Board Positions Open

Calling all change makers, visionaries, and community enthusiasts!


Are you ready to dive into a world of impact, fun, and fulfillment? Join us in shaping the heartbeat of our community as a valued member of our Board of Directors?


If you have 5-10 hours a month to give, you can spend it honing your skills and learning from other community leaders while adding a sprinkle of joy to your community. Sounds amazing, right? Here's your chance to make it a reality!


URGENT ROLES TO FILL as of April 2025

Vice President:

-Executive role with a minimum 2 year committment

- attend a minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- chair meetings in the absence of the president

- assists president in administrative and legal requirements to maintain Lease agreements and good standing with the City of Calgary and Alberta Societies act

- assist other directors as needed

- Preparation to take over as president


Fundraising and Sponsorship Director:

- Director role minimum 1 year commitment

- Attend minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- Help maintain relationships with current sponsors and find new sponsors and fundraising opportunities for CA events and programs

- Work with the director of events to create fun opportunities to help offset CA operational expenses

- Ensure all sponsorship agreements are met such as working with communications director for social media shout outs

- Create advertising for events which include sponsor logos

- Apply for relevant grants that assist events and programs

- Manage and Create AGLC licenses


Events Director:

- 1 year commitment

- attend a minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- Take the lead and host our pre-planned events utilizing the budget set forth the year prior

- Plan and implement new events through every detail. Create a budget and help look for sponsors or suggest fundraisers to offset the cost

- Find and instruct volunteers the day of an event. Maintain an event sub-committee volunteer list.

(We typically have enough volunteers willing to help with our events)

- Work with the fundraising director or defer to the board executive to help with fundraising and planning

- Present ideas and pass motions as needed at board meetings


Rink/Hub Director:

- Minimum 1 year comittment

- Attend a minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- find and maintain volunteers to maintain the winter ice rink. 

- Answer questions and concerns about the recreational hub

- monitor for safety and liaise with the executive board about maintenance

- Assist programming director to ensure safe, fair programming

- Apply for relevant grants concerning the hub


Community Liaision

- Director role minimum 1 year commitment

- Attend minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- Monitor general administration email and either answer or forward messages to appropriate board members

- Assist Events director and fundraising/sponsorship director in hosting events and partnering with businesses

- Welcome new residents to the community

- Help sell community memberships

- Represent our communities at events

- Help find volunteers when needed


Programming Director:

- Minimum 1 year comittment

- Attend a minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- Work with executive to create community programming

- Find and hire coaches to operate programs

- Work with Rink/Hub director to identify programming needs

- Create programming schedules and email participants about program information such as weather anomalies and cancelled lessons


Expansion and Development Director:

- Director role minimum 1 year commitment

- attend a minimum of 7 in person board meetings annually

- monitor any major residential and commercial developments occurring in Coach Hill or Patterson Heights.

- Be the first point of contact for developers when they start to discuss land use designations.

- Push for community engagement and uphold the development terms of reference.

- Answer questions from community members about development occurring in the area

- Speak at council if required on behalf of the community association about large developments

- Provide development updates at board meetings and in the newsletter
