On October 8, 2012 the Sirocco bus terminal will close and some bus routes in the area will be re-routed to 69 Street S.W.  The closure will allow the Sirocco Park and Ride to be restored and expanded in preparation for the opening of the West LRT.

During this time, limited parking will still be available at Sirocco Park and Ride.  Limited parking will also be available at the 69 Street Park and Ride.  Transit customers are encouraged to walk, bike or take a bus to the 69 Street bus terminal.

The bus routes that will be affected include routes 301, 401, 439, 453 and 456.

There will be no changes to routes 2, 53, 67 and 438.  New route maps are available on calgarytransit.com/westlrt

Rider’s Guide brochures are also available that contain all of the route changes and parking maps.  The Rider’s Guides will be available on the local buses, handed out at Sirocco Park and Ride and available on the Calgary Transit website.   I have attached an electronic version.

These new bus routes will be in effect until the West LRT opens.

At the beginning of June we got to work creating a contest to involve the Coach Hill, Patterson Heights community and design a new logo. We wanted a fresh new image that would send residents directly to our website. The community voted for the new logo at our 4th Annual Stampede Breakfast, and a winner was decided.

Thirty entries were received, and an additional nine kids’ entries were submitted. Over $700 in donations were given from local businesses, to award a winner, runner up, second runner up, and best kid’s entry with a gift basket. The Coach Hill, Patterson Heights community association board of directors would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of our generous sponsors, and to everyone who entered our contest. Also thank you to Nadine and Shauna for all of your hard work in putting this contest together.

    About Riley & McCormick

Founded in 1901, Riley & McCormick was providing Calgary Alberta district residents with the finest of harness, saddles and Western wear before the province of Alberta was incorporated in 1905. Riley & McCormick has been present at every Calgary Stampede since 1912. Not just interested in supplying equipment for the animals at "The Greatest Show on Earth", Eneas McCormick was one of those concerned enough to be a founder of the Cowboy Protective Association for the financial benefit of injured rodeo competitors.

History has passed by the doors of Riley & McCormick stores - pioneer missionary Father Lacombe for supplies for his orphanage; military saddles ordered for the Russian Cavalry in W.W.I; Edward, Prince of Wales, to equip his huge EP ranch; decades of entries in the Calgary Stampede Parade, a presentation cowboy outfit for Prince Charles - all part of Western Canadian pioneering and pride in Canada.

The grandchildren of Eneas McCormick still continue to provide traditional expertise and high quality goods and services. Riley & McCormick is a part of Calgary, part of the Canadian West - Calgary´s Original Western Store since 1901.
